Changing tunnels

A remote mentor of mine, Anima, introduced the metaphor of a corridor: we reside in a corridor corresponding to our developmental level. In her framework, development unfolds through the levels of chakras. Muladhara encompasses basic survival activities, such as working for food and shelter. Svadisthana represents the level of sexuality and romantic relationships. Manipura concerns efforts for money, power, collaboration, and business building. Anahata signifies the level of sharing love with all beings. Vishuddha is associated with creativity and art. Ajna involves clear vision and spiritual practice. Finally, Sahasrara pertains to the connection with the eternal. Individuals can move between these levels within one or across multiple lifetimes. Depending on your level, you find yourself in a specific "corridor," and these corridors do not intersect. Thus, you do not encounter various types of people and creatures unless you progress and transition to a new corridor.

Related to this concept is the law of vibrations. You've probably heard the term "your vibration frequency" from many individuals, particularly those interested in yoga. They suggest that you attract events and people who resonate with you (have close frequency). To attract different characters and events, you must change yourself and elevate your frequency.

"Shaman's Laughter" introduces the idea of tunnels. One moves in a tunnel where you encounter the same types of people and events. With some individuals, you will cross paths frequently, even though the objective probability of these events is low. Conversely, with other people, you may never cross paths because they exist in a different tunnel. The world is also filled with various non-human creatures that remain unseen because they inhabit different tunnels. According to the shaman, your tunnel is determined by "rhythm, speed, patterns, and energy." Creatures in different tunnels can sometimes sense each other. For instance, an ant might sense a human due to the shadow cast, giving the ant unexplained goosebumps on its back.

You can test the basic truth about these concepts by changing your patterns. Try driving at a different time of the day or using a different route, change your typical clothes and manners, and you will see that people will treat you differently or you will start attracting different types of personalities. A big change, like a major success at work or a new happy love, will result in even more dramatic results.
